Navigating Denver Area Resources with Care Navigation

You are in the best position to know what you and your loved ones need. At a minimum you need a warm and comfortable living space and healthy food to power yourself through your day, week, month, or even year. We will all experience hard times and setbacks in our life and navigating how to get help can be tricky. There are resources available to help with high heat bills and being able to get more groceries – especially since the prices seem to be going up in the past few years.

Federal and state programs exist to help us when we need it most but without human guidance, it can be overwhelming and alienating to understand what you need to do to access these programs.

Denver Inner City Parish’s Care Navigation team can help you secure items that aid programs don’t cover and ensure you are able to:

  • Feed your family nutritious food
  • Keep your lights on
  • Maintain a cool or warm temperature depending on the season
  • Cook meals and power your appliances

If you don’t have a computer, printer or a reliable phone, our Care Navigators can help.

If you are feeling stigma and stress from asking for a hand up, our Care Navigators can help.

Benefits Enrollment & Financial Assistance

SNAP – Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program f/k/a food stamps. To be eligible for SNAP benefits, you must meet your state’s requirements, including income limits. States can also take other resources into account, like the money you have in your bank account, to decide if you qualify for SNAP.

We can help you apply online in our office. This is an alternative to visiting one of the three offices in Denver county where you may also apply.

Electricity/Gas – Through Energy Outreach Colorado, a non-profit that raises funds to support limited-income Coloradans to afford their home’s energy, DICP helps you apply for specific programs to help pay your bill, reduce your energy use, and upgrade your home or apartment with energy efficient upgrades.

Our team has Spanish speakers available and can use other resources to help navigate in other languages.
